Plus size maternity wear is very limited, especially over a size 20, which means improvisation and a lot of patience is required when looking for clothing to accommodate a growing bump!
Dresses are by far the easiest items to make work for plus size baby bumps because the handful of plus size maternity trousers that do exist do not fit well, plus dresses will skim the top of your bump nicely without clinging to the lower half which so many of us are not overly keen on.
My two pieces of advice if you’re struggling to find dresses is to size up and go jersey! 99% of the dresses I’ve been wearing since my belly turned into a proper bump are a size 26 (I was a 24 pre-pregnancy) and stretchy. However, if you spot something that isn’t jersey, still try it on. There are two items in the last group of dresses below that aren’t jersey but are a lovely swing style with a lot of swoosh (technical term) in them which will work for bumps up to a certain point. If in doubt, try it on!

I really love the tropical maxi dress in the last set, I can imagine myself lazing in the garden in it and a big floppy hat! (In reality I’ll be sweating into the sofa, limbs akimbo with 10 fans pointed at me whilst I sob about being too hot.)
Do you have tips for dressing a plus size baby bump in non-maternity clothes?
